One of the main reasons I started this website and Facebook group was so that we can try to gather up as many Vanagon owners in the Texas area and allow us to organize meetups and camp outs. It’s always a blast meeting other Vanagon owners and talking “shop” since so many of our friends outside of the Vanagon community can’t relate.
The meetup this past weekend was a GREAT success. Fellow member Nathan hosted the event and we had a total of 28 people in attendance with 12 Vanagons making a showing. My Libby was not in attendance and it felt very weird rolling up to a Vanagon Meetup while driving a Mazda sedan. lol.
There was plenty of parking for everyone and it was so much fun being able to check out everyone’s vans and see the modifications and/or upgrades they’ve done in order to better fit their need.
Everyone mingled and got to give a tour of their own van since many of us were so interested in checking out everyone’s rides. What was so funny as we were all standing around talking we noticed a Westy driving down an adjacent street and we were all like “Dude! Look this way!!!”. Which didn’t happen, we could have gained another member that night had he/she just glanced our way and seen the row of Vanagons on the curbside.

I missed getting a photo of Nathan’s (our host) and Alex’s Vanagons. Fail on my part. I’ll do better next time… Sorry guys. =(
All in all we had a GREAT event! The pizza from Eastside Pies was awesome! Definitely a lot better than I’ve found back home in the Houston area. We plan to have another Austin area TexasVanagons next month so if you’ve missed this one… You’ll have another shot at it next month!
